Rethinking Sound, Advancing Science

In the design of Rainbow’s sound, there is no such thing as a “standard answer.” Instead, there is a deep response to the essence of acoustics and a reconstruction of similar approaches for the future.

To create a more immersive spatial sound experience, we innovated along two axes—hardware and algorithms. Rainbow utilizes a high-performance acoustic processing chip, equipped with a calculation core optimized for 3D spatial sound. Its spatial modeling algorithm can instantly adjust phase differences and sound wave directionality, reconstructing a multi-dimensional sound field. Whether playing multi-channel recordings, adjacent music, or spatially mixed materials, the system delivers clear depth and precise localization.

We optimized the entire signal path system, moving away from traditional integrated channel designs. Instead, we adopted segmented sound channels to reduce energy loss caused by digital signal processing (DSP). All audio channels are processed independently and undergo dynamic noise reduction and gain control before output, preserving the full dynamic range and realism of the sound.

On the circuitry level, we use multi-layer gold-plated PCBs and integrate low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulators to significantly reduce interference from power components within the current path. Additionally, critical modules are enclosed in 99.99% copper-free shielding, effectively blocking external electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ensuring an uninterrupted sound output.

To further refine the sound quality, we designed a special acoustic feedback cavity that precisely controls sound waves between the coupling and ear cups, optimizing low-frequency Q-value performance. This enables a balance between rich bass impact and elasticity.

It’s also worth noting that Rainbow's full-ear and half-ear designs are not just structural variations but strategic responses to our sound field design. The full-ear version’s cavity volume and seal enhance bass feedback and the Bluetooth ambient effect, making it ideal for immersive listening experiences. On the other hand, the half-ear version reduces air symmetry, allowing for a more natural, open extension of the mid-high frequencies, making it perfect for long-term wear and daily use.

We also considered the integration of sound stability and battery life. In our 40-hour battery life design, we introduced dual-mode power monitoring and intelligent energy-saving curves. This allows the headphones to maintain high-definition codec playback (such as LDAC and aptX Adaptive) without frequency drop or interruption over extended listening periods.

The absolute quality of sound can never be quantified. But we believe that the pursuit of technological perfection can maximize the invisible yet undeniably present bridge of perception between creators and listeners.
